If you are looking to open a new business premises and want funding to help get your idea off the ground, check your eligibility to the Vacant Commercial Property Grant.
The Vacant Commercial Property Grant scheme has reopened, providing grants from £2,500 up to £10,000 to help businesses start trading from a city centre or local high street property.
All organisation types can apply, including limited businesses, sole traders, charities, CICs, voluntary organisations, and arts and culture groups.
The grant can be used to pay for capital expenditure including any structural or physical works to the premises or any equipment a business needs in order to trade.
Funding is available for long term, temporary or meanwhile use. The amount of funding available depends on the length of lease or rental agreement. Applicants will need to prove they can match the amount they’re requesting by 20 per cent.
To apply, your business or organisation must be looking to lease or rent a currently vacant commercial premises in the city centre or on one of Bristol’s 46 high streets.
Applications must be received before 11:59pm on Friday 14 November 2025, and successful applicants must start trading from the funded property by Friday 30 January 2026.
